Description
Red Star F1 hybrid is a delicious, juicy melon with red flesh. Melons cannot be grown outdoors in our climate. However, it does well in a flat tray or plastic tunnel.
Sowing: From March, indoors in flower pots. Place in the tray or tunnel from April to mid-May. The plants are growing vigorously. Remove all side branches from the first 80cm main stem. Do this when the side branches are about 10 cm long. Top the remaining side branches on the first leaf. Do this also with new laterals that grow regularly under the axils of the topped laterals. Let the upper side vines grow to 1.25 meters, then top these too. The flowers must be pollinated by insects, otherwise you will not get fruit. So the tank or tunnel must be open in good weather.
